SALKANTAY – SANTA TERESA - MACHUPICCHU 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

Salkantay  is a snowy that is located approximately at 4,300 masl.that at the same time is surrounded by the Snowy  of Umantay and others. You will be able to enjoy spectacular landscapes and many exiting experiences.

We invite you to make this alternative  road which with an adventure trip allows you to arrive to Machupicchu.To make this trail has a difficulty from moderated to strong, it is recommended to have a good physical training, arrive to Cusco at least two days before starting the tour for your acclimatization.


ITINERARY

DAY 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Marcocasa – Soraypampa Camping.

soraypampaWe leave at 6:00 a.m. from the city of Cusco and we will pass by the locations of Izcuchaca and  Limatambo, we arrive to Mollepata(2950masl / 9676 feet), afterwards a stop is made to take a light breakfast to then start our trekking of the first day together with the support personnel at 12 noon, we will have a stop to serve lunch in the field of the sector of  Silcakancha and after three hours of trekking we will arrive to Soraypampa where we will camp.

 

 

DAY 2: Soraypampa  – Huayracmachay – Collpapampa Camping

huayracmachayAfter a good breakfast in the morning, we will get prepared to continue our trekking (considered as the hardest of the trip) this around 7.a.m., a crossing to the place called Salkantaypampa is made, to soon direct towards the left side of the snowy called Umantayblanco that is near the snowy of  Salkantay,we will arrive to this place approximately at 12 p.m. Arriving to the highest spot el the path Salkaytay - Umantay at 4650 masl from this spot we will watch the snowies y glaciers of Salkantay being able thus appreciate the astonishing slidings of the snow that are produced in the place, after an hour the stop for lunch is made in the community of Huayrac to then descend and continue our trekking towards the eyebrow of the forest After an hour and a half of lunch we will continue our trekking until we arrive to Colpapampa, we will be at 5pm here will also be the place of our second camping.

 

DAY 3Collpapampa camp -  Winaypoko  - La playa campamento. The beach camping

collpapampaThis day will be unforgettable for the great variety of Flora and Fauna we will see when the day elapses, also

We will appreciate the formation of spring falls in a small valley, afterwards we arrive to the place named Sahuayacocha,in this place we will take lunch to then take a transportation towards Santa Teresa to then follow the course of the river Salkantay and  Santa Teresa, watching diverse varieties of Orchids and waterfalls of great magnitude, at the same time the great variety of cropped coffee is appreciated, fruit-trees, bananas, granades and peanuts, finally we will arrive for camping in the site named  La playa, aproximately 5.p.m.

 

DAY 4: La Playa (Cochapampa)  - Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes (Hotel)

hot water machupicchuThe departure is programed for 7:30 in the morning, we have a trekking of approximately 2 hours to then pass to the ancient population of Santa Teresa that was destroyed by a sliding in the year 1997, arriving thus to la Oroya aproximately at 10 a.m., here we will experience very strong emotions when crossing the mentioned oroya, more over there we will appreciate an underground river and in the same place the Hidroeléctrica de Machupicchu will be appreciated, place where the electric energy for the consumption of the city of Cusco is produced. Arriving thus to the town of Pueblo de la Hidroeléctrica place for lunch, place where we will say farewell to the personnel of support , here you will be able to decide whether to continue the trekking up to Aguas Calientes that logically would be the most ideal or to take the train that will move you from Hidroeléctrica towards the town of Aguas Calientes, in this place the overnight will be done un a hostal located in the same town.

DAY 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco.

After breakfast we will begin the trekking towards the archeological center of Machupicchu to then appreciate the dawn of Machupicchu, we will have our tour guided during two hours by the same profesional guide that accompanied us during the trekking, to then have free time in which you can take pictures, go up to Waynapicchu, among others.

In the afternoon we will leave by the touristic train from  Machupicchu town–Ollantaytambo and pick up by its touristic bus towards the city of Cusco where our services end.

  • Pick up from your hotel in hours of the morning towards the bus and next transfer Mollepata (Place for starting the trekking)

  • Bus from Ollantaytambo towards Cusco.

  • Box for first aids.

Does not include:

  • Breakfast the first day.
  • Lunch the last day: after visiting Machupicchu you have free time to enjoy the citadel of Machupicchu and may choose to take lunch at Machupicchu or Aguas Calientes.
  • The arrival to Cusco is approximately at 20:30 pm. Visit to the springfalls of Aguas Calientes: you may relax whilst waiting the train for returning to Cusco, it is located at 10 minutes from the town, the cost for the entrance is S/. 10.00. the towels may be gotten at Aguas Calientes.
  • Ticket of bus from Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes.

We recommend to take:

  • A backpack with clothes to change during the trekking. Recommended T-shirts, shorts y some warm clothing.
  • Jacket for the rain or  poncho (the plastic ones can be bought in  Cusco)
  • shoes or resistant ones, ideal to make sports.
  • Photographic camera, films and bateries (the bateries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
  • hat or cap against the sun, rain or cold
  • sun blocker
  • Repelent for  mosquitoes
  • toilet paper
  • Snacks: cookies, energetic bars, chocolates, etc.
  • bottle of wáter and purifying pills  (Micropur)
  • original passport
  • Optional: walking sticks during the trekking must be covered with rubber.

Optional Service:

     • Caballo extra horse to carry your personal belongings from the first to the fourth day.
     • Sleeping bag.
